Over 30 leading restaurants, meal providers and supermarkets in Hong Kong and Macau commit to providing sustainable seafood to customers from 5th – 16th June, joining the call of the Hong Kong Sustainable Seafood Coalition (HKSSC) in support of World Oceans Day, to protect marine resources for our future generations to enjoy seafood as we do now.

The seafood supply per capita in Hong Kong and Macau ranks second and third in Asia, at least three times the global average. With over 90% of global fisheries fully fished or overfished, the seafood industry plays an important role in inspiring changes toward sustainable consumption in our city.

The HKSSC is a coalition of seafood industry members aiming to advance the sustainable seafood market in Hong Kong, Macau and the region through good sourcing practices. Its World Oceans Day special menu and sustainable seafood promotions campaign is the first of its kind in the cities.

Participating businesses will provide and promote seafood sourced from biologically sustainable fisheries and responsible aquacultures to support ocean-minded businesses throughout the seafood supply chain, in hopes of driving systemic change toward sustainability.
