From 1st to 16th June 2024, in support of the United Nations World Oceans Day, 42 seafood industry members including restaurants and suppliers in Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore will join forces with the Hong Kong Sustainable Seafood Coalition (HKSSC) to promote sustainable consumption of marine resources for a healthy ocean by making sustainable seafood more available in the market.

More than 90 percent of global fisheries are fully fished or overfished. The seafood imported to Hong Kong comes from over 150 countries or territories. As a significant international trade hub, Hong Kong can play a leading role in driving sustainable consumption of seafood regionally and globally.

Restaurants and a meal delivery service from Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore will provide specially-curated sustainable seafood dishes during the two-week promotion. Some participants decided to extend the promotion to the end of June. These ocean-minded industry members invite the public to choose sustainable seafood to protect the depleting marine resources.

The HKSSC is a coalition of seafood industry members dedicated to advancing the local and regional sustainable seafood market through promoting responsible sourcing practices. HKSSC seafood supplier members – Indoguna Lordly, M&C Asia, Pacific Rich Resources and Saga Seafood – showcase a selection of certified sustainable seafood, and encourage other industry members to provide sustainable seafood to customers, driving the seafood market towards sustainability.
